Ichmul

In 2004, Alberto Flores and Johan Normark mapped the sacbe from Ichmul to Xquerol.  With the assistance of local informants, they also located four more of these roadways radiating from the center of Ichmul, which they were able to record using a GPS. Ichmul itself was a major regional capitol of the ancient Maya, as well as an important center in colonial times, as evidenced by its churches.  Additionally, many Caste War fortifications were built upon the larger Classic Maya constructions.

In addition to Xquerol, Ichmul is connected to the sites of San Andres, San Cristobal, San Juan, and San Pedro.
