Matlab 5 M-Files

traj2.m

This program alows the user to input a 2 by 2 matrix from the keyboard. It then brings up a window (like the one shown) in which the user can plot trajectories of a two dimesional linear system whose coefficient matrix matches the user's matrix. Click on the image of the traj2 interface to download the file.

plotcs.m

This program interactively plots rectangular, cylindrical, or spherical three-dimensional graphs through a (hopefully) user-friendly interface. It was designed to make up for MATLAB's surreptitious lack of routines for plotting in "alternative" coordinate systems. Using the program is easy and a moderately sized, easy-to-read help file is included to, perhaps, guide the prospective user through the various ins and outs.

defwrite.m

This program writes ODE m-files that simplify the application of the solvers in MATLAB's ODE Suite. Click on the image of DEQ File Writer to read a review of defwrite where you will also be able to download the program.

pplane5.m

This is a review of John Polking's dfield5.m and pplane5.m programs. Click on the image of PPLANE5 Display to reference and read the review.

polartrc.m

This file allows users to simultaneously trace two polar curves. Multivariable calculus students may find it useful when attempting to find all points of intersection of two polar curves. Click on the image of Polar Trace to download the file polartrc.m.

Arnold's Cat Map

A self extracting zip file for this GUI can be obtained by clicking on the image. You can find a wonderful student article on Arnold's Cat Map here.

Pursuit Curves in Matlab

The pursuit m-file numerically calculates the pursuit curve and animates it. To download the m-file, proceed here.
